CERTs walking neighborhood

Saturday, February 4th, 2017  9:00-12noon

Terra Linda Community Center on Del Ganado.

This workshop is hosted by San Rafael CERT. If you live outside San Rafael & are interested, let us know at the office email (see below) and we will be happy for you to join us if there is room. Let us know if you would like to host this workshop in your own CERT area.

Please join us for a morning’s discussion on how CERTs operate within the organization of a neighborhood’s response to a disaster/emergency. What are the steps to organizing your neighborhood; how do you identify the resources and skills within your neighbors; and how do CERTs fit into this organization.

Joshua Szarek from Central Marin’s Neighborhood Response Group (www.NRGmarin.org) organization will share with us what Corte Madera and Larkspur are doing to organize their neighborhoods. Joshua is CERT trained and will lead a discussion on how CERTs can optimize their role within their neighborhoods. How many CERTs should we have? How do CERTs work with teams of non-CERTs, as well as fellow CERT-trained neighbors.

We will also welcome a discussion from Lynn Murphy, the Mental Health Outreach Worker with San Rafael Police Department, on techniques for dealing with difficult people in difficult & stressful situations.

There will  be time at the end of the workshop to network with fellow CERTs from your San Rafael CERT Division. Encourage your fellow neighborhood CERTs to join us.

If you did not receive an Eventbrite invitation and would like to attend, contact our office at coordinator@marincountycert.org.
