How to Respond to Animals in a Disaster Training

Marin County CERTs participated in an  Advanced Training Jan. 2016, Animal Response in a Disaster.

CERTs were presented with information & a demonstration of animal response in a disaster setting. CERTs found this informative presentation helpful, as they may encounter lost/injured animals, both domestic and wild, as they work within their neighborhood and community following a disaster.

They learned about the  amazing adaptive abilities of our pets and how to include them in our emergency plans. Demonstrations include when to safely approach an apparent lost pet encountered in our neighborhood in the aftermath of a disaster.

Cindy Machado, Director of Animal Services at the Marin Humane Society, was our presenter.
