On May 28, Fire Safe Marin ran the inaugural Ember Stomp festival to teach residents about wildfire prevention. It was well attended, chock full of good information (and music) and of course the goats were a fan favorite! They will be back next year.
Festival highlights:
- A Demo House area with a fully constructed small model house that showcased home hardening features and materials, such as vents, fire resistant siding and enclosed eaves.
- A Demo Garden, organized by UC Marin Master Gardeners, taught people about the principles and elements of a fire-smart landscape.
- The Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority (MWPA), fire agencies, and Firewise USA communities and other preparendess and wildfire prevention organizations will share an area to answer questions and welcome people.
- The main stage aka the Stomp Stage featured four unique Northern California bands.
- Goats! An area was set aside to learn about the role goats and sheep play in land management to reduce wildfires.
