Boy Scout’s Eagle Project Updates CERT Trailer in Mill Valley

David Gilmore, CERT member since 2017 and Life Scout with Mill Valley’s Troop 1 , is making great headway on his Eagle Scout Project of converting the Mill Valley CERT Trailer from a storage container into a fully functional Mobile Incident Command Station.

David started planning his project shortly after the Sonoma Co. fires in 2017 when he realized how devastating the event was for the small community so close to home. Before he started the project the trailer was jam packed with first aid supplies, fire department gear, and CERT training materials.

With the funds he’s raised so far, David and 15+ members of Troop 1 have built and installed a desk and storage cabinet, LED lighting, an electrical control panel, and acquired and installed four new tires. Over a weekend installed a rooftop solar panel and reorganized all of the supplies into new waterproof storage bins. There are just a few items he would like to purchase to complete the project including two deep cycle AGM batteries to power up the trailer.

Congratulations to David on his great Eagle project and thank you from Mill Valley CERTs!
