Community preparedness outreach through local Spanish radio program

The San Rafael Fire Department / Office of Emergency Services (SRFD/OES) was recently invited to the Spanish-speaking “Cuerpo, Corazón, Comunidad” live radio show to talk about the City of San Rafael’s community preparedness efforts and resources available to the community. Acknowledging that community outreach can be challenging via certain communication channels, live radio has traditionally proven to be a successful medium through which key messages and actions can be conveyed, especially to the working class LatinX community.

SRFD/OES used this space to strategically explain the various community preparedness efforts being led by the City and County as well as to narrow down where and how to access preparedness resources that are unknown to this community. SRFD/OES will be partnering with Cuerpo, Corazón, Comunidad for future regular appearances on their program to address many other important preparedness aspects that benefit the community as a whole.

Cuerpo, Corazón, Comunidad airs weekly every Wednesday and serves Spanish-speaking residents throughout the Bay Area via KBBF 89.1 FM and KWMR 90.5 FM and also live streaming via their Facebook and YouTube channels. Recorded versions are made available on their website cuerpocorazoncomunidad.org/programas and as podcasts on Spotify.
